This morning, Canadians awoke to the news that another Jewish institution had been attacked. Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom in Montreal, a historic Reform synagogue and spiritual home to generations of Jews, was targeted in what has been reported as a firebombing. Earlier this week, reports surfaced of a coordinated campaign by Canadian anti-Israel groups targeting the accreditation of Jewish summer camps. Although URJ Camp George in Seguin, Ontario was not named specifically, we are horrified by this antisemitic campaign and angered that Jewish children are being used as pawns by those critical of Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.
